UK motorhome sales hit exceptional level in 2016
Added: 15 February 2017
Motorhome sales in 2016 rocketed to hit numbers that haven’t been seen since before the worldwide financial crash in 2008. With over 12,000 new motorhomes being registered in 2016, compared to 10,500 in 2015, the 17%increase in sales has showed that the market has grown healthily year on year,as it has continued to do since 2012.
The NCC (National Caravan Council) attributes this upward trend to the extensive choice and variety of motorhomes and campervans available, appealing to a widening range of customers.
Commenting on the figures, John Lally, the NCC’s director general, said: “This high number of registrations clearly demonstrates the continuing strong demand for motorhome products”
Frank Finch, the NCC’s membership services director, said: “NCC Approved Dealer members are reporting that an increasing number of customers are buying motorhomes for year-round travel, both in the UK and Europe. Recent improvements in insulation and better heating facilities in motorhomes make this possible”.
New Touring Caravan Sales remained broadly the same at 21,000 for both 2015 and 2016.
